SPOTLIGHT ON: SL Figuhr
How did you get involved in the Authors Supporting Our Troops event?
Another writer I had recently become friends with had the event posted on his wall. I had heard of something similar, but was never in a position to participate. Now that I am, I jumped at the chance to send our troops a temporary escape from their daily grind.
What is your latest release and what genre is it?
Immortalibus Bella, a blend of fantasy, paranormal and post-apocalyptic
Quick description of it.
The world is broken. A great, unknown cataclysm has destroyed the modern world, leaving the remnants of humanity in a Second Dark Ages. With technology lost and the world once again ruled by bandits and thugs, small kingdoms and city-states are all that is left of civilization. The people living in these cities suffer from corruption, old prejudices, and the cold conditions in which they live.
Witness to the rise and fall of human civilization are the Immortals, men and women gifted with life unending. They have watched from the shadows for thousands of years, taking care not to reveal their secret, lest they face persecution. All the while, the Immortals struggle with their own internal conflicts, bitter rivalries, and secret ambitions.
Mica, a member of a small trio of Immortals, must enter a corrupt city-state in search for enemy who has been trapped in the body of a child for thousands of years. The child holds an ancient artifact, which unrecovered could finally end Mica’s long life. Standing in the trio’s way are the lawmen of this valley town, a powerful demon under the child’s control, and a mysterious woman, who holds strange powers of her own. Her actions will have a profound effect on Mica and his companions’ quest, as well as on the fate of the humans struggling to survive in a harsh world.
Something unique about it.
No sparkly vampires! This is a no hold barred, anything goes world where very little human kindness or decency still exists.

Your short Bio.
SL Figuhr was born in small town north of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania in 1975. She began writing at a young age, from the time a Catholic school nun first taught her how to put pencil to paper. While the dark subject matter of SL’s work may horrify the good sister today, SL remains grateful for the lessons she learned in her early education. SL’s novels examine to the dark and twisted possibilities of human nature, using elements of fantasy, paranormal, and post-apocalyptic literature. As of 2014, she has self-published two books in the Immortalibus Bella series: Immortalibus Bella and The Reaping.
Today SL lives in Charleston, South Carolina with her orange tabby, Butterrum, who insists on being part of her writing process. The pair hope to finish the third book in the Immortalibus Bella series sometime this year.
