SPOTLIGHT ON: Alex Laybourne
What is your latest release and what genre is it?
The release I am talking about today is Highway to Hell. It was my debut horror novel, and while the second installment of the trilogy is out now also, you really need to have read this one first.
Quick description of it.
A group of strangers die in the opening pages, to find themselves trapped in the various torture chambers of hell. Punished in varying lengths of time, in unimaginable ways, they are forced to face the sins of their life. From hating ones in-laws and infidelity, to being wasteful with money and the means which one has at their disposal, the individuals are worn down, until they have no option but to repent.
Cast deeper into hell, where eternity awaits, they are rescued by a group of angels and for the first time, the strangers come together. Bonding over their experiences, and held together by a force greater than that of heaven and hell, they are forced to stand tall in the face of the end. Charged with finding a sixth soul that was unjustly taken from life, they and they alone are can stop the boundaries that separate heaven, hell and all other dimension in between from shattering.
Something unique about it.
Despite being a book about heaven, hell angels and demons, it is not a particularly religious novel. In so far as that I too am not overly religious. I have borrowed parts of various mythologies, with my chambers of hell being based on a Buddhist philosophy and structure.
Another interesting fact was that the trilogy started out as being a novel set on a golf course. Go figure!

Your short Bio.
Born and raised in the coastal English town Lowestoft, it should come as no surprise (to those that have the misfortune of knowing this place) that he became a horror writer.
Married with four children; James, Logan, Ashleigh and Damon. His biggest dream for them is that they grow up, and spend their lives doing what makes them happy, whatever that is.
Highway to Hell was his debut novel, which was followed by Trials and Tribulations – the second Highway to Hell novel. 2014 will see Alex publishing 4 short story collections and at least three full length novels.
